Weather Generally mild weather, especially in summer. I was told that “when outside blows 6-7Bf, in Thermaikós it blows 4Bf”. In winter there are 4 - 5 times strong N - NW, in summer boukadoúra (NE) from 11.00 till sunset. However, the last two years fishermen observed that the winds and their signs change (I was told this in several places). In this particular area, towards more calm weather.

Reconnaisance: The church of Metamórfosi is easily visible but the main landmark of the area is the conspicuous castle of Platamóna, 0.5 nml N of the harbour .

Shelter: All round in the fishing harbour. In the rest of the harbour the N – NW winds create wave and lead to difficult circumstances

Mooring: Good holding. There are permanent moorings in the marina, contact the MO. For the rest of the harbour, in agreement with the locals.

Port facilities: Contact the MO for a mechanic. There is a fishing equipment shop. Marine services 6974 963337.

Good life: The area of Platamónas is a well-known holiday resort. On the 26th July is the celebration of Ag. Paraskeví and on the 6th August the celebration of the Metamorphosis tou Sotíros (Transformations of the Saviour). Eat fish at “Psaropoúla”, inside the harbour, you will not regret it.
