History

Santorini or Thira is an island located in the Southern Aegean, in the island complex of Cyclades, south of IOS and westwards of Anafi. It is known for its intense volcanic activity that existed in old times and is the cause for the current semicircular and Horseshoe shape of the island. Because of the volcano, Santorini is generally dry and arid, with Lakes, rivers and ravines.
The view from the side of the volcano is rocky and steep in contrast with the smoothness of its territory in the balance. It is the only island in which the settlements have not been built at sea level, but at the edges of the interior walls of the Caldera. It is also one of the few places in the world where preserved architectural ensembles of cave houses in volcanic soil. Today there are boats that take volcano tours and give you the ability to walk inside the crater. It is one of the most romantic places in the world and that is why every year thousands of couples come from all over the world to get married or to spend your honeymoon.
