History

    Naxos is the largest island of the Cyclades. Located right in the Centre of the Aegean, it belongs to the Eastern Cyclades. It’s distance from the port of Piraeus is 103 nautical miles while from the port of Rafina is 87 nautical miles. The territory is of the particular morphology while the shape is ellipsoid with a massif from North to South across the island.  The island combines cycladic beauty with a dose of the islands of the Sporades and the Dodecanese, with landscape alterations.
    On the island there are several museums that you can visit and important archaeological sites. Naxos produces several types of cheese: cheese, ladotyro, sweet cheese, gruyere cheese. It is also developed an agricultural production with products such as potatoes, onions, olive oil, wine, raki and local citrus drink. In Naxos is located the unique in the world emery mine while known since antiquity are the marbles and granite coming from the island.
    Naxos in recent years gained a great tourist development of a modern tourist resort, while at the same time maintains the traditional color and its folk culture which will make your visit unforgettable.
