Nautical Information

Shelter: In the inner harbour, the SW side is not affected by any wind. The strong S wind affects the N and NE parts. The W and in particular the strong SW winds create a peculiar wave which requires attention (the gaps between the stones of the breakwater let the sea come into the harbour, causing a disorderly rise and fall in the sea level). The outer harbour is affected by the strong S winds (known as “trelopetríti” by the locals, as they blow in from the area of Pétras and are “treló” - “crazy”). The very strong W winds and in particular the SW create nasty conditions. Their waves pass over the top of the breakwater to such an extent that sometimes you cannot pass to reach your boat. Note that the Mistral, known as “Vardári” by the fishermen, blows as a W wind and is very problematic.

Mooring: Does not hold so well in the inner harbour. The outer harbor offers good holding. Ask the Harbour Office for a berth.
